is leaving the building! Well, part of it anyway. Back in September I joined Weight Watchers. I decided before I had Gabby that I was not going to keep those extra 10 lbs on like I did with Will. I was determined this time. So when Gabby was 5 weeks old (that seems so long ago!) I joined Weight Watchers. My goal was to lose 25 lbs. At first it was slow going. I'd lose a pound one week, .2 lbs the next, gain a pound the next. But I think my body was holding onto the weight since I was breast feeding. After about 2 months it really started to come off. I started going to the gym and decided to do the Couch to 5K program, which is a training program that helps you build up to running a 5K.
I'm proud to say that since I started in September I have lost 22 lbs! I only have 2.6 to go to reach my goal. My reward to myself is to go get a cute new hair style for my new body :) I've been working out 3 times a week (as has Neil, who has lost 15 lbs in 5 weeks!). Last night I went to the gym and ran for 32 minutes, which was three miles. I'm singing up for 5k races and really feel like this time I'm going to keep it off.
I'm wearing clothes I haven't fit into for a long time and a lot of my old clothes I had to get rid of. Right when I started WW I bought a nice new pair of pants. I bought them tight on purpose knowing I was going to lose weight. But now they fall off of me! Literally. I have to get them altered because they are so big on me. It's a great feeling :)

Bitter sweet milestones
I've been struggling lately with Gabby going to daycare, me working, her growing up, you name it. I think I'm having a harder time than with Will because this time I know it's the end. No more newborn phase, she's growing up. And it really hit home hard this weekend when, at 6 months, she decided to wean :( We tried for weeks to get her to take a bottle and finally, after trying 7 different ones, found one she liked. Well, I guess she liked it too much because she now only wants the bottle. I struggled with whether I should continue to feed in the morning and night, but she was not really wanting to do that either, so in the end I decided it was time to wean. It's been hard, both emotionally and physically. I'm in a lot of pain. Going cold turkey is not something I recommend! So many times I've wanted to just start feeing her again as I second guess myself. But I haven't.
Today she was suppose to start daycare which makes this all the more difficult. I had everything ready for her, her diapers, wipes, bottles. I made a ton of food for her yesterday and was emotionally ready to go. But then Vicki called today sick so Neil is staying home with both kids today. So I guess I have to prepare myself for tomorrow all over again.

Sad
Not sure else to title this, except that is how I feel. Gabby will be starting daycare soon and I'm very sad about it. I don't want her to go. I want to stay home with both of the kiddos. I guess I'm not as sad about Will because he's older and has his little buddies to play with, but I felt this way when he was younger as well. I just want to quit work and stay home with them. I don't want anyone else taking care of them. I know the only way this could happen is if I found some type of job from home that would make up part of the lost income.
I also struggle because of the benefits of going to daycare. Will has his friends there that he just loves. It's so good for him to get away from me and play with them and get all of his energy out. I know he'll do much better when he first goes to school because of his interactions there. If Gabby never went I worry that it will be harder for her and she won't have the friends like Will does. Plus, Will does preschool activities there two days a week so he's already starting to learn. Although, I can surely do those type of things at home.
I'll probably get over this soon, but right now it's weighing on me greatly. To be continued...

Yummy, yummy, yummy in my tummy, tummy, tummy!
So we tried Gabby on some rice cereal a few weeks ago and she just can't get enough. When she sees me make it she starts getting really excited and if I'm not fast enough she gets really mad! I got the magic bullet for Christmas and am using it to make baby food. I started her on carrots yesterday and so far she is thrilled. She gobbles them down. I made a whole bunch and am freezing them to have on hand.
I have some new pictures that I need to upload. I feel like I barely have time to even post here lately let alone get pictures up. She's growing up so fast. It's bitter sweet!

Bits and pieces
Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted!!
Lets see. Gabby is doing great. She's still rolling over a ton and laughs and smiles all the time. She is such a mellow baby and will just sit on your lap for the longest time looking at everything around her, including her brother who she thinks is pretty funny. She isn't as great as a sleep as she use to be. She takes pretty good naps but sometimes it's hard to get her down at night and she still wakes up in the middle of the night sometimes.
We just got back from Christmas with the grandparents. First we went to my parents house for a few days. There was a ton of snow and Will loved that. I took him sledding a few times and we even made snow angels together. He really loved the snow and was so cute. He'd turn to me as we were walking and say "I like playing in the snow with you mommy". We made cookies for Santa and put them out on Christmas eve along with milk and a carrot and water for Rudolph. Christmas morning we told him to come get use before he went and saw the tree because we had a present from Santa waiting for him. He went out and was so excited to see that Santa had left him a Hot Wheels track. He played with that while waiting for everyone to get ready to open presents (translation: we were getting the London Fogs ready. Christmas isn't Christmas without our ice cream/coffee/whiskey concontion). He had fun playing Santa and handing out the presents to everyone, until he came to one for himself. He'd sit down right where he was and open it.
Gabby really had no idea what was going on, but next year will be a lot different!
The next day we left for the Tri-Cities. We had Christmas on Thursday and it was crazy with 4 grandkids. But Will and Ian had a lot of fun. They got a lot of the same presents and had fun playing with them together. The only bummer was that Will got Sick the next day and it really zapped his energy. He was doing pretty well until we got home Sunday and then his ears started hurting him. I took him to the ER and sure enough, he had ear infections in both ears. He has antibiotics and is doing great now.
Of course, Gabby got sick from him, her first illness. So far she doesn't 'seem to have ear infections but she's congested and sleeping a lot. Today is my first day back at work (where did the time go?!) so it was a bit hard to leave her since she's not feeling well. She's at home with Grandma Strege this week so I'm glad she's at least not in daycare yet. It's funny, but it was hard going back to work with Will but I'm barely phased this time around. I of course miss her a ton, but I think part of it is it being the second time around and knowing she'll be ok, and the fact that she's older. Will was 10 weeks when I went back to work, 14 when he started daycare. Gabby is 21 weeks and will be 26 when she starts daycare.
I'll post some pictures later when I get them uploaded.
